Got to Hilton Hotel at around 11am for our annual Busy Bee re-union. Club gazebo was already up and tables and chairs were out. There were quite a few members already there and the hotel staff were busy setting up the tables for hot and cold drinks.
This event is always well attended each year as members look forward to catching up whole year’s gossips, holiday stories and any projects they may be involved with. The weather was looking good to start off with but showers had been forecast for later that day.
As the day went on more and more members started turning up along with few non-members but regulars. We also had Lynda Patterson who joined us this year. I met Lynda on a ride-out sometime back and had invited her on many of our club runs but for one reason or the other it just never happened. She rides a trike with most amazing paint work from children’s film called Frozen. Anyone who looks at her trike cannot help but admire the art work and talk about the paint work.
We had our traditional bike show and trophies were awarded to the winners in following categories.
For Best British Café Race went to Malcolm Wholehouse for Green Panther
For Best Cafe Racer went Terry for BSA
For Best Custom went to Dave Martin for his Triumph Flat Tracker
For Best American went to Vinnie for his Harley Davidson Sportster XL Custom
For Best European went to our Japanese friend for his BMW VBV 690R
And finally
Ian received an award for Beast Club member.
The weather was turning cloudy and there was heavy moisture in the air but luckily it stayed dry long enough for us to enjoy the day. After more drinks and banter it was time to head home.
Many thanks to Pat & Brian for setting up the club gazebo, Laurie for liaising with staff of Hilton Hotel in accommodating us and for arranging catering for the day.
