On Sunday July 23rd I decided to get up early for a journey to Jack Hill for the Ton-Up Day. I set two alarm clocks shades of my time in pharmaceuticals (belt & Braces practice). The weather was dull and damp but I was not going to miss what I consider to be one of the major events on the club calendar.
I arrived at about 10am. Steve was there to welcome me and find a good parking space. After a cup of coffee I had a wander around the bikes and stalls. To my surprise ex-member Alison and Terry were running a stall selling bike related items.
I also met Vinnie, Johnny and Sam who were going on to Stanford Hall for the VMCC Founders Day. Meanwhile I went inside the café to get a seat to watch the Rapiers tribute band to the Shadows with guest singer Graham Fenton. Sian and Sue were in attendance with Sian acting as disc jockey once again. It was sad not to see Chester there but I did signed his Memorial Book.
Coming out of the café I met a very unhappy Vinnie and Co. who had just got back from Stanford Hall. A rather disappointing show and not cheap to get in either. At about 3pm I decided to head for home down the M1 which was OK until Bedford then into a huge traffic jam which meant filtering down the middle for nearly ten miles and luckily missing the thunder storm.
I arrived home after a great day out dry and very tired.
